Measurable Learning Outcomes for Early Childhood Education


Early Childhood Education (Kindergarten through 2nd Grade)

1. Communicate clearly in oral, artistic, written and nonverbal form
a. Share ideas using communication skills 
b. Predict an event or outcome based on evidence
c. Use appropriate language to describe events, objects, people, ideas and emotions
d. Listen attentively and respond to communication
e. Use mathematical concepts to communication ideas

2. Develop social skills and ethical responsibility
a. Respect similarities and differences in others
b. Treat others with kindness and fairness
c. Treat others with kindness and fairness
d. Include others in learning and play activities
e. Participate with others when making decisions and solving problems
f. Function positively as a member of a family, class, school, and community

3. Develop physical skills and personal hygiene
a. Respect physical similarities and difference in self and others
b. Learn proper care of the body for health and fitness
c. Develop knowledge that enhances participation in physical activities
d. Display persistence in learning motor skills and developing fitness.
e. Use physical activity for self-expression


Learning Outcome Test #1
The student will be able to distinguish which is a picture of a teacher, doctor, firefighter, police officer.

Learning Outcome Test #2
The student will pick a partner in the classroom and will be given a math problem that they must both agree on the answer.

Learning Outcome Test #3
The teacher will ask students what is personal hygiene and write the answers on a whiteboard and have them  explain how each one should be done.

Essay 
Students will pick a partner and dress up like a teacher, doctor, firefighter or police officer while the other student tells a story about the person they picked.

I do think your outcomes need to include ". . . a specific product or result" (Kubiszyn & Borich, 2010, p. 111). Do you agree or am I misunderstanding this?
